“Freedom is never free” ~ Author Unknown. Americans all across the country are giving thanks to our military veterans on this Veterans Day. Today, November 11th, is a time to pause and remember the men and women who have so honorably and bravely served our country.
The City of Southlake is proud to pay tribute to our employees who served in the armed forces. At 2:00 p.m. today at Town Hall, our veterans will be honored with a special program including: a proclamation by Southlake Mayor John Terrell, the posting of colors by our Honor Guard, invocation by Pastor Clayton Reed from Southlake Baptist Church, a moment of silence, and words of wisdom from guest speak Mary Margaret Halleck, who created “Victory Boxes” to send to soldiers in active service.
We hope you will take a moment to shake the hand of a veteran or simply say, “Thank you” to let them know that we appreciate their willingness to defend our nation and the sacrifices they have made to protect our freedoms.
“This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.” ~ Elmer Davis
