SPARK organizers have extended an invitation to area schools for students and parents to attend an upcoming community event featuring national child safety advocate, Kathleen Baty. Baty, otherwise known as “The Safety Chick” will be presenting a public seminar at the Carroll Senior High School Auditorium on Tuesday, Jan. 24. Baty’s appearance is made possible through donations from community business partners, the City of Southlake and Carroll ISD.
Throughout the program, Baty will be speaking to parents, community members and students (grades 7-12 only) on personal safety, intuitive body signals and being aware, secure and in control. Kathleen’s personal experience of being stalked and abducted as a teen has led her to become an advocate for personal safety. She is passionate about protecting our children and has worked with Congress to enact the first anti-stalking law.
“The Safety Chick” has appeared on The Today Show, The Montel Williams Show, America’s Most Wanted, Inside Edition, Good Morning America and ABC World News Tonight, as well as been featured in publications, including People Magazine, Time Magazine, Glamour, Redbook, Women’s Day and USA Today. SPARK extends it’s appreciation to event sponsors whose generosity made this presentation possible free of charge to the community, especially the Tommy Pennington Realty Group and Sam Pack’s Ford.
