The Lady Dragons kept pace atop the District 7-5A standings with a convincing 53-25 victory against rival Coppell last Friday night. Carroll, now 25-3 overall and 10-1 in district, held a four-point lead before a game-changing second quarter. The Lady Dragons erupted for 25 points in the quarter and stifled Coppell to just three points. Carroll cruised the rest of the way and held Coppell (7-15, 3-8) to another three-point quarter in the third. Carroll was led by Gretchen Morrison’s game-high 14 points. Sierra Maykus added 12 points, while Caitlin Barrett and Kami Mickens each scored nine. Carroll has three district games remaining before the playoffs. The Lady Dragons host Keller Central Tuesday at 6 p.m. at CSHS.
Dragons Fall To Coppell
The Dragons weren’t as fortunate Friday against Coppell. Carroll fell 53-38 and dropped to 14-14 overall and 4-5 in District 7-5A. The Dragons were led by Steve Knowlton’s 15 points and Clay Youngblood added six. The Dragons are currently in sixth place in a crowded 7-5A playoff race. The top four teams advance to the playoffs. Carroll is just two games out of second place. Carroll hosts district-leading Keller Central at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
