CMA Hosts Annual Physicians Breakfast

The Carroll Medical Academy is pleased to announce that the 2012 Medical Professionals  Breakfast/Career Day will be held on Thursday, Feb. 9 at Trophy Country Club. This annual event allows the students in the Medical Academy program to hear presentations from, and interact with, medical professions in the North Texas area. Each year over 25 professionals from a wide range of medical, dental, veterinary, and bio-technical fields offer their time to further enrich our students’ education and understanding of the medical opportunities that can be studied and pursued in their future academic and professional future.

The Carroll Medical Academy is an advanced high school academic tract for students interested in pursuing careers within the medical field. The program, originally made possible through a grant provided by The Hudson Foundation, is designed for students from grades 9-12 who qualify under very specific program guidelines. Carroll Medical Academy offers a math and science intensive curriculum beginning the freshman year of high school.

Students who enter the CMA program benefit in many ways from the curriculum offered. In addition to the annual Breakfast/Career Day, CMA students are provided such as  specialized training in CPR or first aide certification, visits to medical facilities, exposure to unique summer internships, and the ability to participate in distance learning. Senior CMA students enroll in a spring internship course where they follow alongside mentors at a variety of medical practices in our area. CISD believes the opportunities made available to our students through the Carroll Medical Academy will continue to enrich and encourage participants as they work toward their goal of a career in medicine.

CMA is proud to be sponsored by Children’s Medical Center for the 2011-2012 academic year
