Register Today for 3rd Annual Bird on the Run

It’s the Year of the Turkey so get your gobble on for the 3rd Annual Bird on the Run, Saturday, March 31, 2012! Runners and walkers can test their skills on the 4-Mile Run on the trails of the Preserve and Walnut Grove National Recreation Trail while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the ecosystem known as the Eastern Cross Timbers – a treasure in the heart of the metroplex. The 1-Mile Trail Fun Run follows the Bluebird Trail on the Preserve.

The 2012 Bird on the Run is sponsored by Cook Children’s in partnership with the Bob Jones Nature Center, a 501c3 nonprofit, and the City of Southlake Parks and Recreation Department. Both runs begin at the Bob Jones Nature Center & Preserve, 355 E. Bob Jones Road, Southlake, TX 76092. The run is also supported by the Southlake Mounted Patrol, Northeast Tarrant Amateur Radio Club, and the Grapevine Runners and Walkers.

Registration for both runs is available online at www.southlakeparksandrec.com or in person at the City of Southlake Community Services Offices, Southlake Town Hall, 400 N. Main Street, Southlake.

Packet pickup is Friday, March 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Bob Jones Nature Center & Preserve facility. Race day check in begins at 7:00 a.m. The start of the 4-Mile Run is 8:30 a.m.; the start of the 1-Mile Fun Run starts at 10:15 a.m. Four mile run participants (limited to 200) will receive a long-sleeve t-shirt. Awards will be given to top finishers in each age group. One mile participants will receive a short sleeve t-shirt. Each participant will receive a finisher’s ribbon.

Donation to the 4-Mile Run is $20 through March 28 and $30 on race day. The 1-Mile registration donation is $10 (no need to register children under 3). Event parking will be at the Preserve with overflow parking available at the Bob Jones Park Equestrian Parking Lot, 3901 N. White Chapel. A shuttle service will be available to and from the Nature Center starting at 6:45 a.m. No dogs or strollers permitted on either run.
