Southlake DPS Safety Fair

Southlake residents, families, Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops and anyone else interested in a having fun, hands-on learning experience will want to come to the Southlake DPS “Safety Fair!” Mark your calendars now for Saturday, February the 25th!

The Safety Fair will be held at Bob Jones Park from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on February 25th.  It will be an educational and fun time for kids and adults alike.  Kids will get to check out Southlake fire engines and police vehicles and learn about the safety equipment firefighters and officers’ use every day. Fingerprint ID kits will be available for parents who want to maintain identifying information on their children.

Attendees will also learn about crime prevention and fire safety education. They will have a chance to visit with DPS volunteer groups and learn how they too can get involved with public safety in Southlake. Everyone will receive valuable emergency preparedness information as well.

The Southlake Safety Fair promises to be a fun time for families and kids and educational too!  We hope you will plan to join us!

Southlake DPS is also pleased to announce the 2012 CERT Class. CERT, which is short for Community Emergency Response Team, is an eight week course designed to educate people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Classes begin on Thursday April 12, 2012 and meet every Thursday night from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. through the end of May.
