Two Dragon Debaters Earn State Titles

The Dragon Speech and Debate team competed against more than 200 schools from the state of Texas in the annual Texas Forensic Association State Tournament and finished overall in 5th place. Winning a State Championship in Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking was Senior, Arvind Venkatarman and a State Championship in Congressional Debate was freshman Azar Hussain. A total of 1,600 students competed for these coveted titles, according to Dragon Coach Diane Forbes.

Other outstanding performances were given by the following Dragons:

Tim Dominguez – 2nd in Congressional Debate and 6th in Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking
Megan Schippmann – 4th in Congressional Debate and Top 16 in U.S. Extemporaneous Speaking
Nick Lowrimore – Top 16 in U.S. Extemporaneous Speaking and Top 24 in Congressional Debate
Paul Samuel and Arvind Venkataraman – 5TH in Public Forum Debate
Sean Armas and Natalie Miano – Top 16 in Duet Acting
Ali Prasla – Top 24 in Congressional Debate
Nate Pisik – Top 24 in Congressional Debate
Daniella Cohen – Top 24 in Congressional Debate
