Carroll Sends Two Students to State Geography Bee

Carroll ISD social studies teachers have something else to cheer about. They’re sending two students to the Texas Geographic Bee State Finals this month. Durham Intermediate and Carroll Middle School both have one student from their campus that qualified to compete at the state level.

DIS Geography Bee Winner Xavier Polisetty

Sixth grade student Xavier Polisetty from DIS and eighth grader Evan Clary from CMS both recently won their campus Geography Bee competitions and scored well enough on written exams to advance to the state tournament. The students have one month to prepare. The tournament is scheduled for Friday, March 30 at the Pat May Center in Bedford.

Last year, more than 100 students participated in the state bee. A Colleyville Middle School student won that event to advance to the national tournament. Winners from all U.S. states and territories will travel to Washington, D.C. for the National Geographic Bee finals scheduled for May 22-24.
