Playoff News: Carroll Teams Gear For First-Round Matchups

The Carroll Lady Dragons head into next week’s playoffs on the strength of a 5-1 victory Thursday at Denton Guyer. The victory earned the Lady Dragons the District 7-5A Co-Championship with Fossil Ridge. Carroll finished the regular season 23-2-1 and 11-2-1 in 7-5A. Leading scorer Sophie Groff scored three goals. The Lady Dragons head into the Class 5A playoffs and meet Hebron on Tuesday, April 3 at Denton High School.

Dragons Finish Second In 7-5A
Meanwhile, the Dragons wrapped up their regular season against Denton Guyer on Senior Night Thursday. The game ended in a 0-0 tie and the Dragon finish as the No. 2 seed in District 7-5A. Sophomore goalkeeper Turner Roberts produced a game-saving stop on a penalty kick with 1:20 left in the game. The Dragons finished the regular season 15-6-4 and 10-3-1 in district. Carroll, the 5A defending state champions, open the playoffs against Marcus at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 3 at Northwest High School.
