Members of the Carroll Senior High School Student Council were recently named State Champions for the third year in a row. The group traveled to Austin the weekend of April 14-15 to compete in a GT program called Future Problem Solvers.

The team’s winning project included a year- long campaign that began with identifying an area of improvement within the community, creating an action program and putting the solution to work. Carroll students agreed their project would  that inclusion of special needs students in the school and community. They called their project, “Dragons Digging Deeper”. Throughout the school year, the team created unique programs and hosted events for special needs students,  like a fundraiser for Special Olympics, creating Homecoming Mums, invitations to a Valentine’s Dinner and planning an upcoming end of year picnic for soon to be graduates. This 9 month long endeavor was presented to judges in Austin who gave Dragons Digging Deeper the top award.

This is the third win in a row for Carroll ISD Future Problem Solvers teams. Last year’s team won for their efforts in assisting students at low-income elementary school. Click here for more information about Texas Future Problem Solvers.
