Heavy Rain Hits Southlake

Heavy rain hit Southlake Tuesday  afternoon following a tornado warning and severe thunderstorm warning.  The City of Southlake Department of Public Safety activated the Emergency Operation Center to better communicate storm information to first responders and City residents.

All City of Southlake Parks and Recreation activities have been canceled for Tuesday evening. however all of tonight’s City meetings will take place as scheduled.  For a listing of tonight’s meetings, please visit the City’s website calendar.

Carroll ISD district canceled all after school and evening athletic activities with the exception of the soccer playoff games. Conditions are still being monitored before a final decision is made for soccer.

Duncan Disposal has advised the City that they will not complete their regular Tuesday pickup today.  Residents are asked to keep their garbage and recycling out on the curb for pickup tomorrow morning.

The City first alerted residents to the possibility of severe weather Tuesday morning on www.CityofSouthlake.com.  Just before 2:00 p.m., the City issued a Connect CTY call to all residents and businesses alerting them to the tornado warning and to find a  safe place. All afternoon the City’s and DPS’ facebook and twitter pages updated followers to the current situation.
