Tarrant County to mail renewal voter registration certificates

New voter registration certificates will be mailed to all active registered voters in the county by Wednesday, April 25th, said Tarrant County Elections Administrator Steve Raborn. The new certificates are valid through December 31, 2013, are yellow and white in color and replace the previous blue and white certificates which expired at the end of 2011.

The replacement cards, usually mailed in December or January, were delayed throughout Texasthis year due to litigation over the state’s redistricting plans. Registered voters who do not receive a new voter registration certificate by April 30th should contact the Elections Department at 817-831-8683 to check the status of their voter registration.

Once the new voter registration certificate is received, the old certificate should be destroyed.  The new certificate may be used for voting in 2012 and 2013 elections.

Voters are encouraged to carefully check the information on their new certificates for accuracy.  Many will find themselves in a new voting precinct and/or will have new districts due to redistricting.  Voters should immediately call the Elections Department if they believe any information on their new certificate is incorrect.

Registered voters who have moved or had a name change should notify the Elections Department in writing to update their records.  The deadline to register to vote or update your existing voter registration recordfor the May 29, 2012 Primary Election is April 30, 2012.
