Dragons Blast Guyer, Claim District 7-5A Championship

Dragon pitcher Greg Maisto went five innings and had nine strikeouts in 13-3 victory last Friday against Denton Guyer. The victory clinched the District 7-5A title for the Dragons.

The Carroll Dragon bats came alive last Friday against Denton Guyer. With a chance to win the District 7-5A title outright, the Dragons responded with a thunderous 13-3 run-rule victory at Dragon Field. Carroll finished the regular season 18-9 and 11-3 in district. The Dragons enter the playoffs on a hot streak winning their last three games by a combined 34-3 score. Against Guyer, the Dragons hit three home runs (Ben Sego, Kenny Hill, Nick Arst) and Greg Maisto shut down the Guyer offense. Maisto went five innings and had nine strikeouts.

The Dragons will face District 8-5A’s No. 4 playoff seed Marcus in the opening round of the playoffs, which begin Thursday.
