Carroll Open Water Swim Club Captures State Title

Earlier this month, the Carroll High School Open Water Swim Club once again captured the Texas State Championship in the H.S. Boys’ Division by placing five swimmers in the top six finishers. This was the 6th year in a row that the Carroll boys won the Texas State HS  “Open Water”  Championship.

The 2012 team included Ted Singley, Austin Johnson, Jonathan Roberts, Matthew Barnhart and Carson Klein. Singley, for the second year in a row captured the overall title in addition to placing first in the H.S. Division, followed closely by Jonathan Roberts in second. The event was held in Austin and included a field of 225 participants. 

Singley, with a time of 24:50 finished first and Johnathan Robert was second with a time of 25:04. Rounding out the Top 5 was Carson Klein finishing with a time of 28:09.  Matthew Barnhart and Austin Johnson, finishing 12th and 13th, respectively. As a team, Carroll finished first overall with 472 points, defeating seciond place MARS Open Water club by a 369 points.
