Road Construction on Lonesome Dove Gets Underway

Road improvements are underway on Lonesome Dove

Roadway construction on Lonesome Dove between East Dove Road and Burney Lane begins today.  The project is a partnership between Tarrant County Precinct 3 and the cities of Grapevine and Southlake.

Milling of the existing asphalt pavement will begin today and is expected to be completed on Friday.  Beginning next week, Tarrant County Precinct 3 crews will begin reconstruction operations.  The County will focus on the subgrade reconstruction from Palo Duro Trail to Burney Lane initially.  Once that work is complete, crews will focus on the paving of the roadway from Palo Duro Trail to Burney Lane.

Simultaneous to the paving of the northern section of Lonesome Dove, county crews will turn their attention to the subgrade reconstruction between E. Dove Road and Palo Duro Trail. Upon completion of the subgrade work on the southern section of Lonesome Dove, paving of the southern section will begin.

Southlake Public Works Director Bob Price stated, “We appreciate the cooperation of Precinct 3 Commissioner Gary Fickes and the City of Grapevine in the reconstruction of this roadway.  It is another example of how different governmental agencies can work together to serve the area residents and the motoring public.”

The roadway is expected to be under construction for the next 6-8 weeks.  Lonesome Dove will remain accessible to local residents. However, area motorists should expect delays and are recommended to use other routes such as N. Carroll Ave. to reduce the delays from the construction
