Teddy Bear Auction Returns to Durham

Based on last year’s success, the Durham Intermediate School Student Council decided to host another Teddy Bear Auction. The acution will benefit Spokes 4 Hope, a non-profit based in Southlake that provides new bicycles and helmets to children during the holiday season.

Since the Lauren Stone State Farm Agency purchased the bears on behalf of DIS, all proceeds from the Bear Auction will be donated to Spokes 4 Hope.  Students and staff purchased bears for $5 each, dressed and accessorize them for the auction. The dressed bears will be displayed for all students to view and enjoy before and during the auction which will take place during the school day on October 31.

Some of the more unique bears at this year’s auction include a Justin Bieber Bear, a Mad Scientist Bear, several super-hero bears and various kinds of Carroll Dragon bears. Students may bid on their own bears and/or any other bears they want to purchase.

Last year, the DIS Student Council Bear Auction was a tremendous success and raised $3,200, which was split evenly between Bastrop ISD and Smithville ISD Employee Relief Funds.

Spokes 4 Hope will receive donations from this year’s auction and on Nov. 7 from 3:45-6:45 p.m. DIS Student Council will host a “Bike Build Day” – DIS students, staff, and parents will work along side Spokes 4 Hope volunteers and Southlake Police and Fire employees to build 200 bikes at the school.
