Durham Community Comes Together for a Cause

The photo slideshow below includes pictures taken at Carroll ISD’s Durham Intermediate School on Wednesday, Nov. 7. Faculty, staff, students, parents and local emergency responders worked together to build more than 200 bicycles for local charity Spokes4Hope. In just under three hours, 125 DIS-affiliated volunteers and more than 20 Southlake, Keller Police and Fire voluteers built 222 bikes.

“I am extremely proud of the DIS Student Council leading out in such a wonderful way with the bear auction in order to raise the funds to donate to Spokes4Hope,” said DIS Assistant Principal Kathy Phillips. “Several of the students who were participating in the bike build stopped me to tell me how excited they were to be helping other children.”

The recent DIS Teddy Bear Auction raised $4,500 which was donated to Spokes4Hope and used to purchase the bicycles. A special event is planned for Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Cabellas in Roanoke where the bikes will be donated to children. Click here to read more.
