The Carroll School Board has called a Special Meeting Tuesday, November 13 to consider the Citizens’ Bond Advisory Committee (BAC) Recommendation on projects to include with the remaining 2009 Bond Funds. The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Johnson Elementary School.
Members of the BAC made a presentation at the November 5 School Board meeting, calling for the Board to approve projects for science labs at Carroll Senior High School, the purchase of band instruments, covered walkway at schools that do not have them, a cross country interval training track, and baseball and softball lights on the fields at Carroll Senior High School, to name a few. The projects total more than $2.8 million and were prioritized by citizens on the BAC, the committee overseeing completion of the 2009 Bond Program approved by voters.
In addition, parents with student athletes involved in the softball and baseball programs have made several requests for lighted fields through the years. The project has drawn opposition from neighbors in the subdivisions adjacent to CSHS.
Board President Read Ballew said the special meeting will include a Public Comments agenda item, giving citizens who sign up a five-minute time limit. Groups of individuals representing a common cause are asked to appoint a single spokesperson. View the agenda here.
