It was another night of offensive fireworks by the Carroll Dragons. The high-flying offense produced a 70-7 victory last Friday against Fossil Ridge at Dragon Stadium to clinch the District 4-5A championship.

Carroll won its eighth consecutive game and moved to 8-1 overall and 6-0 in district. The No. 7 state-ranked Dragons are one district victory going undefeated in district action for two consecutive seasons. Against Fossil Ridge (3-6, 3-3), the Dragons produced an amazing second-quarter run. Carroll scored 42 points in the quarter and it included three touchdown runs by quarterback Kenny Hill and two TD passes from the future Texas A&M Aggie. The Dragons led 56-0 at halftime.

The Dragons end the regular season against Haltom at 7 p.m. Thursday at Birdville Fine Arts/Athletics Complex.

Hill was 14-of-18 passing with 257 yards and two TDs and led an attack that produced 662 yards. He added four rushing TDs and 113 yards. Ryan Weigel led all receivers with six catches for 157 yards and one TD on a 74-yard connection with Hill in the second quarter. For the season, Hill has produced 38 touchdowns in nine games (20 rushing, 18 passing).  He needs 153 rushing yards Thursday against Haltom to reach 1,000 for the season. He has already surpassed the 2,000-yard mark passing with 2,162 and has just two interceptions.

Defensively, the Dragons held Fossil Ridge to 181 yards of offense and produced four turnovers.
