Southlake Teams Compete at State Flag Football Tournament

The City of Southlake hosted the 2012 T.A.A.F. State Flag Football Tournament November 17th – 18th. Games took
place at Bob Jones Park as well as Southlake’s new state- of- the- art facility, North Park. Thirty-seven teams participated from as far as Stephenivlle, San Angelo, Greenville, Richardson, Waco, Burnett, League City, Keller and Deleon.

Two of the three Southlake teams that played in the tournament made it to the championship game. The Southlake Titans, coached by Carlos Reyes, and former Dallas Cowboy, Russell Maryland, faced off against the three time state champions ,the San Angelo Chargers. The Titans were victorious in bringing the state flag football title to Southlake in the 8U division. The defending State Champions, the Southlake Cobras, coached by Kyle Eldred, and former Dallas Cowboy, Tony Tolbert, placed 2nd in the 12U division. They had a hard fought battle against Deleon S+S. Congratulations to all of our Southlake teams who participated in this challenging tournament!

Thank you also to the preferred hotels of the tournament: Marriott Solana, Hotel 6 in Grapevine, Embassy Suites at Outdoor World and the Hilton Southlake, for providing great customer service for the out of town guests. Next year, the City of Southlake will be hosting the 2013 T.A.A.F. State Flag Football Tournament on November 15th – 17th, 2013 at North Park.
