Hoops Roundup: Carroll Teams Stay Course Atop 4-5A

The following is an update of last week’s action for Carroll in District 4-5A…

Dragons 68, Keller Timber Creek 54
The Dragons improved to 16-9 overall and 5-2 in district with the road victory against Timber Creek. Daniel Brown led the Dragons with 19 points and Cole Partyka had 17 to pace Carroll. Sammy Silver and Josh Zabransky each had eight apiece. Carroll rallied after falling behind by five points in the first quarter. The Dragons exploded in the fourth quarter breaking open a tied game after three quarters. Carroll outscored Timber Creek 22-8 in the fourth. The Dragons return to action as they host first-place Richland at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Lady Dragons 41, Keller Timber Creek 40
Gretchen Morrison’s free throw with 11 seconds left broke a 40-40 tie and sealed the Lady Dragons’ victory. Carroll earned its sixth consecutive win and remained atop the leaders in 4-5A. Kennedy Leonard led the Lady Dragons with 11 points and Madison Drescher added 10. Carroll improved to 16-9 overall and 8-1 in district play. The Lady Dragons move ahead to a big game Tuesday against Richland. Tip off is set for 6:30 p.m. at CSHS.
