The Lady Dragons took sole possession of first place in District 4-5A by upending Richland on Tuesday with an impressive defensive effort. The Lady Dragons defeated Richland 50-36 and moved to 8-1 ahead of Richland and Keller, which are both 8-2 in district.
The Lady Dragons held Richland to four points in the second quarter and added more separation in the fourth quarter. Kennedy Leonard had a team-high 19 points for the Lady Dragons and Kami Mickens had 15. Gretchen Morrison chipped in seven points. Carroll returns to action Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Northwest. Four games remain in district play.
Dragons Fall To Richland
The Dragons slipped to 5-3 in District 4-5A with an 85-60 loss to to Richland Tuesday night at CSHS. Carroll fell behind 21-8 in the first quarter as Richland’s offense proved too difficult to slow. Carroll was led by Daniel Brown, who finished with 18 points. Josh Zabranksy added eight. The Dragons fell to 16-10 overall and travel to face Northwest at 8 p.m. on Friday.
