Soccer Teams Go Unbeaten In Tourneys

The nationally-ranked Carroll Lady Dragons opened the season with an impressive performance in the National Elite Prep Showcase. The Lady Dragons, ranked No. 5 in the country by ESPNHS, produced four shutouts while going 4-0 in the tourney. The Lady Dragons blanked Bishop Lynch (3-0), Lubbock Monterey (3-0), Kingwood (3-0) and Liberty, Calif. (1-0). The Lady Dragons played at Dragon Stadium and TCU. The girls return to action Thursday in the CHHS Allison Horn Memorial Showcase. The Lady Dragons face Arlington at 6 p.m. Thursday at Mustang-Panther Stadium in Grapevine to open the tourney. On Friday, Carroll plays Grapevine at 8 p.m. at Mustang-Panther and Nolan at 11 a.m. Saturday at Colleyville Heritage High School. The championship game will be held at 5 p.m. at Mustang-Panther Stadium.

The Carroll boys’ team also produced a strong performance in the Richland Winter Blast Tournament. The Dragons produced four shutouts and defeated McKinney Boyd in a shootout after going scoreless during regulation. Carroll tied Trinity 0-0 to open the tourney and added victories against Allen (3-0) and North Side (1-0) to finish 3-0-1. The Dragons begin play in the Duncanville Tournament on Thursday.
