AP Boosters Announce Scholarship Winner

At the January 14 regular meeting of the Carroll ISD Board of Trustees, the Carroll ISD AP Boosters awarded Victoria Bottorff the Cheryl Shankman Study Abroad Scholarship.

The Scholarship paid $500 directly to TSA, the travel agency coordinating the Study Abroad Program. Victoria also received a certificate of best essay along with the scholarship money.

Victoria is a senior student at CSHS and is currently attends Mr. Johnston’s AP Art History class. She has also attended 3 other AP classes (U.S. History, Psychology and Government). The trip will take place during Spring Break. Victoria says she is very excited to extend her curriculum with Carroll ISD by visiting museums and famous historic sites, enjoying fine dining and shopping, and much more in London and Paris.

The Cheryl Shankman Study Abroad Scholarship is awarded annually to one Carroll ISD sophomore, junior or senior. The scholarship is in memory and honor of Cheryl Shankman. Cheryl was a parent, dedicated educational advocate, volunteer and past president of the Carroll AP Booster Club. She loved to travel, experience other cultures, and challenge herself with continuous learning, both in and out of the classroom.
