JES Spends a Day Without Shoes

On Thursday, April 11, the entire campus of Johnson Elementary School will be going shoeless and collecting new shoes for the Buckner Foundation. The shoes will be donated to children in 32 countries including the United States.  Hundreds of shoes were collected throughout the day. The shoes will be counted and donated.

Students removed their shoes after arriving at school this morning and wore socks while inside the building. The action was to draw attention to the plight of children who face injury, illness and miss school and other opportunities due to their lack of foot protection.

For more information about the shoe drive and its organization, you can visit the website at http://www.shoesfororphansouls.org/. A short, photo slideshow of the shoe drive is featured below.
