Carroll Teams Advance In Playoffs With Area Shutouts

The Carroll Lady Dragons produced a dominating performance against El Paso Franklin in the Class 5A Region I area playoffs Friday at Midland’s Grande Communications Stadium.

Carroll scored three goals in the first half and cruised to a 4-0 victory. The Lady Dragons’ earned their 26th victory on the season setting a school record. Carroll advances to the 5A Region I quarterfinals next week and will face Keller Timber Creek, which defeated San Angelo Central Friday afternoon. Julia Dyche led the Lady Dragons with two first-half goals and Grace Cory added the third goal. Meghan Murphy chipped in the final goal in the second half.

Dragons Blank El Paso Bel Air
The Carroll Dragons also advanced with a 1-0 Class 5A Region I area playoff victory against El Paso Bel Air at Midland’s Grande Communications Stadium Friday afternoon. After a scoreless first half, freshman forward Duncan Gary produced the game’s only goal. It lifted the Dragons into the Region I Quarterfinals where they will face El Paso Montwood next week.

Soccer Teams Collecting Donations
The Carroll soccer teams are collecting gently-used soccer items, clothing and baby clothes  for the Noel Orphanage, which is the largest orphanage in Rwanda. Items can be donated at the Dragon Stadium concession stand at Tuesday’s Lady Dragon playoff game.
