Dr. John Woodall, founder and director of The Unity Project, will speak at Southlake Town Hall from 7 -9 p.m. Thursday, June 27. The event will be held on the third floor of Town Hall, and light refreshments will be provided.
Woodall, a board-certified psychiatrist and formerly a faculty member at Harvard Medical School, designed the Unity Project as a transformative program to promote resilience in youth. Over the past 20 years, Woodall has worked with traumatized individuals and communities impacted by the tragedies of Hurricane Katrina, 9/11, war in the Balkans, and child conscription in Uganda. However, his current focus is on the youth and families in his hometown of Newtown, Connecticut, after the tragedy that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School last December.
Woodall will provide an overview of the Unity Project, its implementation in the Newtown community, and its potential application in CISD.
