The City of Southlake was notified Wednesday(9/18/2013) that three mosquito samples have tested positive for the West Nile Virus. The samples were taken from traps at 3240 Woodland Drive, 870 Shady Lane, and 700 Greymoor Place.

The City intends to ground spray within a half-mile radius of the affected areas (see maps below) Thursday night—weather permitting, or on Friday if necessary.

Public Works Director Bob Price has this reminder for residents: “We are urging people to take this personally. Residents should continually check their property for standing water and treat any standing water with larvicide.”

Price also adds that everyone should use insect repellent containing DEET whenever you are outside and where mosquitoes may be present—especially during dusk and dawn when they are most active.
