Lady Dragon Volleyball State Semfinal Friday

GLEN ROSE – The Carroll Lady Dragon volleyball team made history Saturday afternoon in Glen Rose.

The Lady Dragons completed a sweep of Colleyville Heritage for the Class 5A Region I title and earned the team’s first appearance in the 5A state tournament. The Lady Dragons (48-1) won 25-19, 25-19 and 25-23. Carroll was paced by Katie Martin with 10 kills and Madison Drescher added nine.

Carroll will face San Antonio Churchill (46-2) at 5 p.m. Friday in a state semifinal at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland. The Woodlands (43-0) faces League City Clear Falls (40-6) in the other semifinal at 7 p.m. The championship game will be at 7 p.m. Saturday.

This marks Carroll’s second trip to the state tournament. The Lady Dragons fell in the Class 4A state championship game in 1998.
