Dragons Moving To District 7-6A With Trinity, Coppell

The University Interscholastic League released its biennial Realignment and Reclassification for 2014-2016 Monday morning and it provided big news for Carroll Dragons.

The Dragons will join Trinity, L.D. Bell, Coppell, Colleyville Heritage, Richland and Haltom in the newly-aligned District 7-6A. This new district combines two state football powerhouses in Carroll and Trinity. This the official alignment for football and basketball.

The UIL retooled the conferences and created a new 6A this year, which is basically composed of 5A teams due to the UIL creating Class A for Six-Man schools and moving each classification up. Carroll is currently in 4-5A and will move to this new district for the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 school years.

This will mark the first time in school history that Carroll will share the same district as Trinity and Bell. The most intriguing part of this new alignment is Carroll and Trinity now as district rivals. The two schools have met three times in the football playoffs in front of large crowds and provided dramatic finishes.

But to those long-time Carroll followers, rejoining district with Coppell is also intriguing since the Cowboys have been the Dragons’ rival since the 1970s.

Carroll’s bi-district is District 8-6A which includes, Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Duncanville, Grand Prairie, Mansfield, Midlothian and South Grand Prairie. The first round of the playoffs will be matched against this district.
