Runway Shoulder Repair Could Lead to Aircraft Noise Monday (3/31/2014)

The City of Southlake has received the following from DFW Airport Noise Office:

DFW must close Runway 18R/36L on Monday, March 31 from 0730AM to 1230PM for some urgent runway shoulder repair.  The National Weather Service is forecasting south flow winds.  No north winds are forecast between about 9PM Saturday, 30 March and sometime after 3PM Tuesday, 2 April, next week.  If this forecast remains valid air traffic will remain in the normal south flow pattern.

If the winds shift to the north during the runway shoulder repair period, the FAA may have to launch jets over the cities of Southlake and Grapevine.

Citizens with inquiries or complaints are encouraged to contact the DFW Airport’s Noise office by email at DFWNoise@DFWAirport.com or call the 24-hour telephone hotline at 972-973-3192.
