Former Carroll Runner Take Second at Dallas Event

Southlake’s Colby Lowe finished second in a time of 1:06:04 just 3 seconds behind Julius Kiptoo of Kenya in the Dallas Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon.

A half-marathon is 13.1 miles in length and Lowe averaged a pace of 5:03 per mile for the route. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series attracts world-renowned athletes and local rising stars to compete in the series of event spanning U.S. and International destinations.

Lowe, age 24, lives in Southlake and is the Assistant Cross Country Coach at Dawson Middle School. Colby had an illustrious running career at Southlake Carroll as a high school student. He was seven-time Texas State High School Champion plus also the Texas Gatorade Athlete of the Year in 2008. During his college days at Oklahoma State University, Lowe was a five-time All-American and led OSU to two NCAA Division I Cross Country Team Championships. Early last month, Lowe won first place in the Texas Half Marathon in Las Colinas with a time of 1:05:41.
