Dragon Tennis Update: Singles Duo Finishes in Semis

AUSTIN – The Carroll Dragon tennis team’s season came to an end in the Class 5A state tournament Monday in Austin.

Dragon boys’ singles player Eshan Dave and girls’ singles player Kelley Anderson both reached the state semifinals. Dave defeated Colin Markes of Round Rock Westwood 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinals to advance. Dave fell in the next round to Peter Leung of Katy Taylor 6-1, 6-2.

Anderson defeated Hunter Blesser of New Braunfels 6-3, 6-1 in her opening match to advance to the semifinals. She lost in the next round to Janice Shin of Houston Clear Lake 6-4, 4-6, 6-0. The singles’ championships were held Tuesday morning.

The Dragons boys’ doubles team of Collin Alexander and Jack Learmonth lost their quarterfinal match to Houston Memorial’s Ciro Lampasas-Sam Giammalva 6-3, 6-3.
