The final standings for the 5A UIL Academic State Meet put Carroll among top performers once again this year.
The Dragons Social Studies Team is a back-to-back state champion, taking first place for a second year in row. Students on this year’s team are: Jarod Chaney, Kelsey Taeckens, Kelly Danner, Alexis Bowen and alternate Bronwyn Sutherland.
Kenny Martin (pictured left) was also named a state champion in Literary Criticism.
The Computer Science team of Reid Long, Anjie Liang and Matt Kendzior took home third place. Reid Long was named sixth place for individual. Azhar Hussain was named fifth place individual in Persuasive Speaking and Kevin O’Brien was named sixth place individual in Informative Speaking.
Carroll’s point total was 78 , finishing fourth out of 70 5A schools at the state meet. The top three finishers were, Clements High School, Sugar Land with 137 points, Dulles High School, Sugar Land with 97.33 points and Seven Lakes High School in Katy with 81 points.
