The totals in each classification were official Tuesday.
The Dragons earned their fifth Cup after finishing the 2013-2014 school year with 115 points. Carroll’s total marked the most points and largest margin (37) ahead of second-place in all five classifications. The Lone Star Cup recognizes the highest-performing school based on finishes in state and area marching band, team tennis, cross country, volleyball, football, swimming and diving, wrestling, basketball, soccer, golf, track and field, academics, one-act play, softball and baseball.
Carroll earned state championships in boys and girls cross country, boys swimming and diving and produced a state champion wrestler. Besides several team district championships, the Lady Dragon volleyball team was a state semifinalist, boys golf earned a state runnerup finish along with girls swimming and diving. Carroll’s academic team finished fourth in the state.
Carroll earned its fifth Lone Star Cup, which includes three in 5A. Next year, the Dragons move to the newly-formed 6A classification.
Winning schools receive the UIL Lone Star Cup trophy and $1,000 scholarship. The Lone Star Cup award, given to schools in all classifications, began in the 1997-1998 school year and Carroll won consecutive titles in 4A (2000-2001 and 2001-2002).
