Dragons Rally to Upend Colleyville Heritage

PinkOut14_JRepice (8) GRAPEVINE – The Carroll Dragons were in need of an offensive rally and big defensive effort in the second half against Colleyville Heritage.

The Dragons got both in a 42-23 victory Friday at Mustang-Panther Stadium to remain undefeated with two games left in the regular season. Carroll improved to 8-0 and 4-0 in District 7-6A. The Dragons return home Friday for their final home game of the regular season at 7:30 p.m. against Haltom.

Carroll trailed 20-7 in the second quarter and rallied behind the tackle-breaking effort of tailback Lil’ Jordan Humphrey and a shutdown defense. Humphrey rushed 35 times for 261 yards and four TDs. Humphrey had back-to-back scoring runs of 24 and 1 yards in the second quarter.

The Dragons trailed 23-21 at halftime, but held the Panthers scoreless in the second half. Humphrey scored two more TDs in the second half on runs of 39 and 3 yards.

Heritage was held to 200 yards and 13 first downs. Carroll amassed 492 yards and 354 on the ground. Dragon quarterback Ryan Agnew was 12-of-18 for 138 yards with one TD and two interceptions. Ryan McGiboney led the Dragons with eight catches for 75 yards and one 14-yard TD catch.

Notes: Haltom lost to L.D. Bell 39-22 last week…Lil’ Jordan Humphrey has 1,221 yards rushing and 20 TDs this season.
