DFW Airport Announces Weekend Closure of Runway 18R/36L

DFW AirportThe City of Southlake has received the following information from the DFW Noise Compatibility Office:

DFW plans to close Runway 18L/36R for maintenance between 6AM and 6PM, Saturday, 17 January and again on Sunday 18 January between 6AM and 4PM. These two periods will be used for pavement repair and maintenance of runway markings.

The National Weather Service currently forecasts northwest to north winds for Saturday commencing during the last hour of Saturday’s runway closure.  Assuming this forecast remains valid, it is possible that the FAA will need to use Runway 13R/31L, the west diagonal runway, for jet departures during the latter portion of the closure period.

North winds are forecast to continue thru Saturday night into Sunday morning until about 10AM.  Runway 18L/36R will again be closed at 6AM and reopen not later than 4PM.  During the early hours of the planned closure Sunday morning the north winds may require the FAA to use Runway 13R/31L for jet departures.
