Carroll Hosting North Texas Region OM Tourney

odyssey_thumbnailMark your calendars for Creativity on Saturday, Feb. 28 when CISD will host the North Texas Region Odyssey of the Mind Tournament at Carroll High School from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A record 68 teams from across North Texas will compete, including 23 teams from Carroll.

This year, there are Odyssey teams from every single CISD campus with over 400 students are participating. Come out to see some of the fabulous creativity and support the team from your school.  If you’d like to volunteer at the Tournament, you can sign up through our VolunteerSpot link:  http://vols.pt/gX2nF7

What is Odyssey of the Mind? It is an international creative problem-solving competition for students of all ages.  Teams of seven students select a problem, create a solution and present their solution in 8 minutes to a panel of judges.  The teams have been working on solutions since October.  Each team will also solve a Spontaneous Problem, which is presented at the tournament and solved on the spot.  Teams choose from five Problem Categories including: Vehicular, Technical, Classics, Structure and Drama.  Everything is created by the kids…outside assistance is not allowed, which gives kids an opportunity to learn, experience, create, grow, and have fun as a team.

The top four teams in each Division and Problem will advance to the State Tournament in Houston for a chance to compete at the World Tournament in May. Carroll has a proud tradition in Odyssey of the Mind and we expect this year to be another great year for Carroll “OMERs”!

Carroll Odyssey of the Mind would like to thank our 2014-15 Sponsors:  Little Musicmaker Conservatory of Southlake, Kumon of Southlake, and SAGT.  In addition, our Tournament Sponsors include Starbucks, Snappy Salads and DataMAX.
