Carroll Debate Team Gears Up for Busy Spring

Debate_ElPaso2015 (2)Competition on the debate circuit has kept the Carroll Dragon Debate team busy this semester. Fresh off their big win at Harvard in February, the team traveled to El Paso’s Franklin High School for another tournament. 188 schools participated in the competition that was held March 4-7.

In the Student Congress Senate, Carroll ISD’s Priyanka Reddy, came in 7th place. Reddy was one of 96 entries in this category. In the Student Congress House competition, which included 133 entries, Azhar Hussain came in 9th place and students Emma Lin and Mafaaz Tanzeem both reached the Semifinals. Debate_ElPaso2015 (1)In the International Extemporaneous Speaking category including 102 entries, Azhar also received 4th place and classmates Zain Aziz and Mafaaz Tanzeem both made it to the Quarterfinals.

The team is looking ahead to the Tournament of Champions in April. Click here for more information about the event. The National Qualifiers competition is scheduled for mid-April.
