DIS Student Earns Top 10 in Poetry Contest

DIS 5th grader Mattie Kleespies

Durham Intermediate School fifth grader Mattie Kleespies was among the top 10 winners during the fall in the Creative Communication Poetry Contest.

Kleespies, whose teacher is Mrs. Christensen, wrote “I Am a Cowboy” and it was selected among thousands of entries. Her poem will be featured on a full page in the anthology. She will also receive a check and copy of the anthology for being a top-10 winner.
