Dragons Begin STAAR Testing Monday

STAAR-logoBeginning Monday, March 30, Carroll ISD students will begin state testing for the 2014-2015 school year. This spring, students in elementary and middle school will begin STAAR testing and high school students will take End-of-Course exams.

These exams are required by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and administered at the student’s home campus.

The schedule below gives specific dates of each test required by grade level and subject.

The Assessment Division of TEA has the following requirements:

  • All STAAR assessments have a four-hour time limit with the exception of English I and English II; these two assessments have a five-hour time limit.  Other exceptions are based on certain circumstances as established by the state.
  • No visitors will be allowed on campus.
  • Cell phones and all electronic devices should be left at home on testing days; students bringing these to school will have them collected by the staff prior to testing, and returned after testing is completed.
  • Campus schedules, including lunch, will be altered to accommodate the testing environment.

On testing days, please ensure your Dragons are well-prepared for their exam by providing breakfast and arriving at school on time.  Further information on specific state assessments will be communicated from your child’s campus.
