Dragon Transportation Names Employee of the Month

Carroll ISD Transportation Director Ranjan George announced the March Transportation Employee of the Month at the department’s staff meeting on Wednesday, April 1.

Bus Aide Valarie Graves was presented with a certificate and recognized for her outstanding work in the Transportation Department. Graves also received a gift card courtesy of Carroll ISD’s We Care employee appreciation program.

Graves has been a Dragon employee for seven months and during that short time, she has demonstrated excellence in her position. A Bus Aide travels on the bus and assists students with special needs.

One of the things Graves says she loves about her job is getting to work with children every day. She recalled a recent instance with one of the students.

“When he [the student] came back to school after being out for a while, he boarded the bus he sat down and said, ‘I sure did miss you guys,’ ” Graves said.

A wife and mother to two adult sons, Graves is also a grandmother. Her granddaughter moved to Texas from Oregon. Graves’ hobbies include traveling, history and art.

The Transportation Department has 72 employees, including drivers, mechanics and office staff. Ranjan George is the Transportation Director. The department’s Employee of the Month program recognizes the duties and achievements of staff. The award is presented at the end of each month during department staff meetings.
