AUSTIN – Carroll sophomore distance runner Reed Brown made a significant impression at his first UIL State Track and Field meet last weekend.

Brown earned two Class 6A silver medals as he finished second in the 3,200 meters and in the 1,600 meters. It has been a memorable year  for Brown, who also helped lead the Dragon cross country team to the state title in the fall.

Brown finished the 3,200 meters with a time of 9:00.82 and New Braunfels Canyon’s Alex Rogers finished first at 9:00.09. Brown ran the 1,600 meters the following day and timed 4:15.50 — also less than a second off Rogers.
