Memorial Day Weekend Travel May Lead to Increased Aircraft Noise

The City of Southlake has received the following information from the DFW Noise Compatibility Office. Citizens with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the Noise Compatibility Office. The telephone hotline, 972-973-3192, is manned 24/7. The web address for the Noise Office is dfwnoise@dfwairport.com.

We wanted to make you aware of planned DFW operations to accommodate the traveling public over the Memorial Day weekend. An increase in DFW flight operations is expected beginning Thursday, 21 May and extending through Tuesday, 26 May including some overnight operations. These additional arrivals and departures will primarily utilize the four central runways. Additionally, operations are anticipated from 6AM until 11PM on the three outer-most runways (the two diagonal runways, 13R/31L and 13L/31R as well as Runway 17L/35R).

According to the National Weather Service, the current north winds are forecast to persist until early morning, Friday May 22, when they will become easterly and remain so until later in the day. They will then shift to the south and remain so through the afternoon of Tuesday 26 May. Though there are gusts in excess of 20mph forecast for Sunday night, they should have no impact on normal flight operations.

We appreciate your patience during this busy holiday period. As always, more information about the Airport’s activities can be found on the dfwairport.com link: http://www.dfwairport.com/inthecommunity/aircraft_noise.php.
