Dragon Baseball Advances to Area Round

Pitcher Kevin Cramer closed out a suspended Game 1 victory for the Dragons.

GRAND PRAIRIE – The Carroll Dragons found a clutch performance in a deciding Game 3 against Midlothian last Saturday.

The Dragons defeated District 8-6A championship Midlothian 7-1 in the Class 6A bi-district round at QuikTrip Park in Grand Prairie. Carroll starting pitcher Michael Canterino went five and two-third innings and had nine strikeouts. He had plenty of offensive support. The Dragons pounded out 15 hits led by Ross Cadena and Casey Combs, who each had three hits apiece.

Carroll (22-5) scored runs in four of six innings and led 5-1 after the third inning. The Dragons also played error-free. Carroll fell 3-2 in Game 2 to force the deciding game.

The Dragons will face Hebron this week in the area round. Hebron (20-8) swept Byron Nelson in the bi-district round. Hebron finished third in District 6-6A behind Flower Mound and Marcus.
