Carroll Choir Performs In Italy

A total of 60 Carroll Choir students traveled to Italy during the summer and had the opportunity to perform in a number of beautiful and historical venues. The students who went on the trip worked hard all school year to learn the additional music that was required.

The choir performed a full concert in Venice at the beautiful Chiesa di San Moise and another in Rome at the Basilica Parrocchiale S. Maria del Popolo. Both churches were packed with locals and tourists. There were even some Dragon families who were traveling on vacation who came to hear the choir.

Along the way, the students were given permission to sing at some very special locations. In Florence, the choir sang in the Basilica of Santa Croce, the burial place of Michelangelo and Galileo. In Rome, the students had the honor of singing under the dome in the 2000-year-old Pantheon.

In between performances, the students and the 30 adults accompanying them toured Venice, Verona, Florence, Siena, and Rome. Everywhere the choir sang, the students received accolades for their performances.

Carroll has six different high school choirs, and they perform for the public a number of times during the school year. The first concert this year will be their Fall Concert on Thursday, October 8 at 7 pm at the Carroll Senior High auditorium.
