Carroll Students Prepare to Honor Veterans

Wednesday Nov. 11 is Veterans Day and all Carroll schools will be taking time out of their regular schedules to celebrate and honor those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Each campus has prepared a special ceremony or recognition and is inviting any family, friends, or members of the community who have served in the military to attend and be honored by Carroll students, faculty and staff on this special day.

Carroll Elementary:

Carroll Elementary will have a Veterans Day assembly on Nov. 11 at 8:15 a.m., which will include a speaker and a performance from the show choir.

Johnson Elementary:

Johnson Elementary’s Veteran’s Day program will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 11 with two performances: one at 8:15 a.m. for Kindergarten – 2nd grade, and 9:00 a.m. for 3rd – 4th grade. The program features speakers from 3rd grade and they will highlight the significance of The White Table. The 4th grade choir will sing “Step in Time” to honor all military branches one at a time. Any and all Veterans are invited to attend either performance.

Old Union Elementary:

The 3rd graders at Old Union Elementary are putting on a Veterans Day Program on Nov. 11 from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. in the café.

Rockenbaugh Elementary:

Rockenbaugh Elementary is also having a musical program, titled “I am a Soldier” that will have two showings, at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, and at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11. Students are encouraged to bring pictures of military family members or friends so they can be recognized during the performance.

Walnut Grove Elementary:

Walnut Grove Elementary will host a Veterans Day musical program at 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 11 in the school gym. In addition, a Veteran’s Wall will line the hallway into the assembly that features photos of Veterans related to students and staff.

Durham Intermediate:

On Nov. 11 Durham Intermediate will have a Veterans day assembly from 9:10 a.m. – 10:10 a.m. in the main gym. The assembly will highlight the DIS choir, a guest speaker, and slide show representing all the family members of DIS staff and students that have served. After the assembly a reception will be held for attending veterans.

Eubanks Intermediate:

Eubanks Intermediate will host a Veterans Day assembly in the EIS Gym at 9:00 a.m.

Carroll Middle:

Carroll Middle’s Veterans Day program will be held on Nov. 11 at 10:20 a.m. Students from the school’s Media Mania class created the programs for the event, which will feature performances by the band and choir, poetry reading from students, essays written by the Teen Leadership classes and a guest speaker from the Jo Foss Institute.

Dawson Middle:

The Dawson Middle Veterans Day Assembly will be at 3:00 p.m on Nov. 11. The Dawson Band and Dawson Choir will be performing, and all family members and friends who have served in the military are invited to attend.

Carroll High:

The Carroll High School Veterans Day Assembly will be held on Nov. 11 at 9:30 a.m., with a luncheon following from 11:15 a.m. -12:15 pm.

Carroll Senior High:

Carroll Senior High’s Veterans Day assembly will begin at 9:50 a.m. on Nov. 11, and veterans who are attending are asked to arrive at 9:30 a.m. Following the assembly, a luncheon for all veterans will be held in the CSHS library.
