Carroll Cross Country Teams Race to District 7-6A Titles

CCBFor the fifth consecutive year, all four Dragon Cross Country teams placed 1st in the District Meet, giving the Varsity teams a spot in the Regional meet in Lubbock.

The Carroll Varsity and JV teams dominated the field, with three of the four teams obtaining a perfect score of 15. The top 3 schools in the varsity boys and girls divisions advance to the Regional meet in Lubbock on October 26th.

The Varsity Lady Dragons took the top 7 spots and scored a perfect 15. Senior Antigone Archer finished first with a time of 18:43.5. Next crossing the line simultaneously were Gillian Mortimer 18:43.6 and Alison Esparza 18:43.6. Sarah Odneal took 4th with 18:55 and Cate Tracht finished the scoring positions, coming in 5th at 18:59. Kayli Jones and Ari Lopez also competed for the Lady Dragon team, finishing 6th and 7th respectively.

The Varsity Boy Dragons also dominated their race with our top 5 runners placing in the top 10. Junior Reed Brown led the boys team and took 2nd place with a time of 15:31. Michael Waugh took 3rd place running a 16:03, Shea Whatley came in 4th with 16:07, Timou Toure came in 7th with a time of 16:11 and Charlie Gardner finished out the scoring positions in 8th place running 16:12. Michael Simcho and Nicholas Fernandes also competed, taking the 10th and 12th places respectively.

Carroll will compete in the Class 6A Region I meet on Oct. 26 at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.
