Carroll Routs Richland, Gears for Trinity Showdown

DSC_0517The Carroll Dragons started a little slow in their return home against the Richland Rebels.

But by the end of Homecoming Night, the Dragons had produced a memorable finish. Carroll trailed 13-7 in the second quarter before breaking out over the remainder of the game for a convincing 52-21 victory last Friday at a sold out Dragon Stadium.

Carroll vs. Richland Highlights

Carroll held Richland to seven points in the second half and rolled up 552 total yards. The Dragons improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in District 7-6A. Richland fell to 3-4 and 2-1 in district.

This week is the 7-6a showdown between the Dragons and Trinity at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Bedford’s Pennington Field. The winner will have sole possession of first place in district.

Against Richland, Dragon quarterback Mason Holmes had four touchdown passes and 235 yards. Running back Lil’ Jordan Humphrey had 121 yards rushing and one TD and 31 yards receiving and one TD. Receiver Zach Farrar had two TD catches. Carroll outscored Richland 31-8 in the second half after holding a 21-13 halftime lead.
