Dragon Runners Win Big at Weekend Meets

The varsity girls team placed 1^st at the Chile Pepper Festival, outscoring the 2^nd place team by 150 points. Alison Esparza led the Lady Dragons coming in 4^th place with a time of 18:13, followed by Gillian Mortimer in 6^th place at 18:23, next was Tig Archer in 9^th place with a 18:38, coming in 12^th was Ari Lopez at 18:38 and Sarah Odneal completing the top 5 with a 15^th place finish and time of 18:47.

The varsity boys team came away with a 2^nd place win and a score of 78 points. They fought hard in this extremely competitive race. They were led by Reed Brown who took 1^st place with an impressive 15:06, followed by Charlie Gardner in 12^th place at 15:32, next was Michael Simcho in 19^th place with a 15:47, coming in 29^th was Shea Whatley at 15:58.55 and rounding out the top was Nic Fernandes in 30^th place with a 15:58.72.

“We are very proud of how our runners have progressed from top to bottom this season,” Carroll coach Justin Leonard said. “Our varsity teams had a great performance at the Chile Pepper Festival against some national caliber teams. The girls dominated the field and the boys came in second. Reed Brown won the race with the 10^th fastest time in Chile Pepper history. We are so proud of the JV teams for perfect scoring the girls race and coming in second for the boys. They are the future of our program and I’m so excited for them.”
